I truly enjoyed my recent visit the “Museum of Spanish Colonial Art” in Santa Fe, NM. I would recommend this museum to our guests at Casa Escondida Bed & Breakfast. Casa Escondida is a Santa Fe area Bed & Breakfast, located in historic Chimayo, NM (just 35 minutes north of Santa Fe, on the High Road to Taos). Casa Escondida B&B offers wonderful Santa Fe area lodging for your New Mexico vacation. The Museum of Spanish Colonial Art is a unique museum because it is the only museum in the US that is devoted to Traditional Spanish Colonial Art. In spite of being a fairly small Santa Fe museum building (8 art galleries), there are over 3,500 art objects in their collection. I found their offerings to be a very rich indeed. While the collection represents Spanish arts throughout the world, their main focus is on the arts of New Mexico (once the northernmost capital of the Spanish empire). Santa Fe has a very long and unique history. In addition to satisfying the historical interest of many, the Museum of Spanish Colonial Art also features modern day artists who still work with the traditional methods and materials. The museum offers a series of changing exhibits. The Museum of Spanish Colonial Art is housed in a beautifully restored historic building that was once a private home, which was designed by the famed John Gaw Meem. So even the building itself is a reason to visit. The building is listed on the Historic Santa Fe Foundation Register! The Museum of Spanish Colonial Art is open 7 days a week from Memorial Day – Labor Day, from 10 AM – 5 PM. Closed on Mondays during the off-season. Admission is only $5. Visitors that are under 16 years of age are always FREE. Admission for New Mexico residents is FREE on Sunday.Self-guided tours and docent-led tours are both available.Visit them on Museum Hill at 750 Camino Lejo in Santa Fe. The staff at Casa Escondida Bed & Breakfast look forward to having you as our guest! We are a green bed & breakfast and 4 of our 8 rooms are pet-friendly.
