Though there are at least five worthwhile New Mexico hot springs within 90 minutes or less of our New Mexico Bed and Breakfast, one of the most popular is Jemez Hot Springs. Jemez Hot Springs, found in the town of Jemez Springs, is a serene and stunning place to visit.
Not only are there plenty of things to do in Jemez Springs, including ample opportunities for exploring the surrounding landscapes, but the outdoor pools offer an unprecedented opportunity to soak in the healing waters of Northern New Mexico.
Jemez Hot Springs features natural outdoor mineral water hot spring pools. The water for these pools originates deep beneath the Valles Caldera National Preserve. Minerals have seeped into the water under the preserve over eons, leading to the characteristic mineral-rich, healing waters of Jemez Hot Springs.
There are four outdoor pools at Jemez Hot Springs, each of which is held at a different and constant temperature ranging between 98-105 degrees Fahrenheit. Jemez Hot Springs is open year-round, seven days a week, except Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day. There are no reservations for Jemez Hot Springs, which operates on a first-come, first-served basis.
Jemez Hot Springs is about 90 minutes from our New Mexico Bed and Breakfast. In addition to Jemez Hot Springs, Jemez Springs is home to three other New Mexico Hot Springs. One is a resort-style facility similar to Jemez Hot Springs, and the others are more rustic hike-in options.
- In addition to Jemez Hot Springs, another nearby New Mexico hot spring is the Jemez Springs Bath House! This unique spot offers hot and cold mineral baths and a wide variety of spa services for the ultimate in relaxation.
- Spence Hot Springs is one of the most heavily visited primitive hot springs. It’s beautiful, and the spring maintains a natural 95 degrees.
- McCauley Warm Springs is the final hot spring in Jemez Springs. You’ll find it between Battleship Rock and Jemez Falls, and it is a 3.8-mile loop with two warm pools.
- Though it’s not in Jemez Springs, another great rustic hot spring is San Antonio Hot Springs near Los Alamos. This is one of the closest New Mexico hot springs to our New Mexico Bed and Breakfast. Its rugged nature and stunning natural surroundings in the heart of the Santa Fe National Forest are unbeatable, and the hike to reach it is only 0.6 miles.
